Sweaty Betties is dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for women, encouraging leaders, teachers and mentors by women, and expanding and enhancing portrayals of women in the Jiu-jitsu community through these projects.

Sweaty Betties and Girls in Gis, two of the oldest women’s jiu-jitsu groups in the United States, have joined forces to launch the “United She Stands” project in order to provide opportunities to cultivate a supportive, motivating and unifying culture to help our community get through these uncertain times. We believe that by coming together we all benefit. Together, women can do more, go further and change the world for the better.

We at Sweaty Betties wish to raise awareness of women who pursue their goals in the face of economic and cultural barriers, both in the Jiu-jitsu community as well as society at large.  We believe that visibility and storytelling are crucial to cultural shifts and eventual societal change. Our mission is to use film and other media to foster the promotion of women in the Jiu-jitsu community.
